This page explains what you will see on the Non runners tab and gives you detail about the functions
View the non runners tab video What is a non-runner? A non-runner is when a horse is removed from the line up of a race just before the start, this can happen for a number of reasons and some people believe that it can adversely affect the results of the race. Generally if you have placed a bet on a horse that becomes a non runner betfair will cancel your bet.
This is the master control for betting on races based on the number of runners, formerly in the bet settings tab For example : should wish to only bet on races with more than 8 runners then you would select 9 to 30
The way this feature works is as an additional to the standard number of runners restrictions.
So let’s say for example that I want to bet on races with 0- 30 runners but specifically not on races with 9 runners. You just need to enter 9 in the exclusion box
We have added 1 to 9 but if you choose "1" then the Grey Horse bot will not bet if there is 1 or more non runners in the race
Each horse in a race is given a “Reduction Factor” this worked out by how much the race will be affected if the runner is removed. Hot favourites normally are 25% or more where an outsider may be as little as 1% or less.
We have found that directly after a suspension (similar to in running) the prices can get a little strange so this option allows you to stop betting during this time. A 20 second setting seems to be good enough.
The fact that the number of non runners can quite strongly affect the outcome of a race is not new however there are some interesting ways that this can be used to your advantage. This feature allows you to restrict betting unless there are a number of non runners before your start betting TTS time.
