I was at Physio yesterday getting my shoulder worked on.

I still get a little stiff from the climbing, but it is a lot better than it was.

Although I do have a slight issue with one of my fingers not straightening correctly :-)

Value.

It's one of those things that people like talking about...

...But hardly ever tell you how to find it.

Yeah, they do in a roundabout way.

"You have to decide if the price represents value by deciding if the chances of the horse winning are better than the current odds suggest."

Ok...But how do we know?

We first change the price into a % chance of winning.

Price of say 2.00 = 1/2.00 = 0.50 or 50%

Cool, so the market thinks the horse has a 50/50 chance of winning...

...But what do you think?

If you think it has a better chance of winning, then 2.00 is a value price.

If you think it has a lower chance of winning, then 2.00 has no value.

Um, yeah, but how can I tell that?

Ahh, now that is where research comes in.

You need to spend a lot of time working out how to decide if a horse represents value...

...And you will only learn that by testing.

Finding value doesn't mean you are going to win every race.

If after 100 results you are making a profit...

...Then you have found value.

Or you could just use PR Ratings to test ideas over 1000's of results to see where that value could be.

Colin, a reader, is always analysing the football selections I give out in different ways.

Yesterday, he emailed me about the FHG/LTD 8.8 over results with a few ideas.

One was this.

Wait until 30 minutes before going into the FHG0.5 market.

Out of 99 selections.
52 had goals before 30 minutes.
Roughly 24 had goals before halftime.
The price can be 3.00 or over...

...So they could easily cover the 23 lost.

But I thought another strategy would be to Back part of your stake at the beginning of the match and then if a goal hadn't been scored...

...Then put the rest in at 30 minutes plus.

Just another idea for the selections.
