I spent some time with my Mum and Sister over the weekend.

Mum likes tealight ornaments so I printed a few Christmas ones and took them over to her.

My sister told me that she actually likes them as well and put in an order for a few more :-)

I remember years ago (over 20) when I first got into racing and a conversation I was having with a punter with a lot of years of experience was talking systems/methods.

While chatting it was obvious he was very selective about the races he took on and was a bit guarded about it as well.

Then we got chatting about favourites and the obvious questions about how profitable they could be.

Strangely, he told me that he had a system that looked for specific Chase favourites.

I wasn't sure whether to push him on it or not but decided to try my luck and ask...

...He said it probably wouldn't interest me because it was a system that had very few selections and made around 11 points a year (on a good year).

You have to remember this guy was not a £1 stakes trader he was a £1000 plus guy and seemed to have several ideas that he ran, so this could have been worth £11,000 a year or more to him.

Anyway, the system was quite simple.

Chase Favourites, non-handicap, class 1 and graded races.

I had a quick look at PR Ratings and this year it has made 11 points...

...last year it didn't, but in 2022 it did.

Doesn't sound great if you are placing £1 stakes but pretty impressive if you are using £1000.
