🐎👉Why favourites could be useful...

I'm getting ready to go out for a ride today on the "Non-Electric" bike.

I fancy stretching my legs on the other bike and burning a few more calories.

Also if I get as far as I want the electric bike would run out of...well electrons.

My other bike is so much lighter as well :-)

Have you ever studied favourites?

I am sure you have especially if you have PR Ratings.

Let's go through some stats anyway.

Overall (depending on the time frame) favourites win about 34% of the time (Their strike Rate).

We know this already and it's not really that helpful unless you are lay betting...

...Then at least you now know you have a 66% chance of winning on any selections.

Hold on though because it is not that simple.

Favourites prices can range from around 1.10 to 9.00 which can affect the strike rate.

For instance, a favourite with a BSP price of around 2.5 or under, their strike rate goes up to 52%

This means there is now around 50/50 chance of winning or losing.

If we take the BSP to 1.99 or below then the strike rate of the favourite goes up to 60%.

This is where it can be a little more interesting from a "Lay" point of view because we know the favourite has a very good chance of winning...

...So we can look at the other runners in the race (normally 2nd or 3rd favourite) and decide if we could take one on them on.

One thing to remember here is that although the favourite has a fair chance of winning...

...that doesn't mean if it loses that the 2nd favourite or even the 3rd favourite will automatically win.

If a strong favourite isn't winning then the race is probably up for grabs :-)
